This is a short story about the reasons Prospector was changed to do Home Business Contact Management and what sets it apart from most other software of it's kind.

When I first started my Home Business Business I was told to use Outlook*. So just like most of us I gave Outlook a try. Outlook was great for what it did. For the most part I used it to set up appointments and I know other people did a lot more with it, but it didn't fit my needs.

Then I tried the Contact feature my up-line used on their on-line website. The website was set up with canned emails, and limited options for what I could do with the data. There was not enough flexibility to do a good job.

I am a partner in a software company and we had a program that we wrote and used for Contact Management for last 10 years. I did what anyone would do, I took our program home and used our import feature to import the leads.

It was one of those experiences that feels like a slap in the face. The program was great for what I did at the office, call leads and track all the schedules. (Of course it does more, but that's for later) Fact is it did not let me do what I had to do, high speed dials and re-schedules. I was excited, downloaded the package, and installed the software. Two days later I was bummed, this was not going to get it done. What was next? I go to the office and went to work trying to get my business partner to make the changes I needed. Hey, this was not an easy project getting him to write changes for me, but I did talk him into it. That's right the wake up call, we all get them, when you understand you still don't have everything you need. 	Auto Schedule the imported contacts, X number per day for X number of days.
	Put the imported Contacts into a unique list for letters, emails, etc.
	High speed dialing and re-schedules - Done
	Get a results of what happened on the dial.
	Create a list of people from imported data and send them emails.
	Be able to find who and what I wanted in Queries. (sounds easy but it's not)

It took some serious effort and time but Ray surprised me and went to work making these crucial features. I am happy to say that now they are ALL - DONE!

What it Means For You

As an Home Business Business owner it means you can have the Contact Software you need. Contact Management Software has to do certain things to be a contact software program, and Prospector did all that and more before we started the modifications.
